Supreme Court orders Panda Mart closures for safety audit
Court orders two Melbourne Panda Mart stores closed for safety checks of dangerous goods.
The Supreme Court of Victoria ordered Panda Mart's Cranbourne store to close November 9 to 11 and its Preston store November 16 to 18. Consumer Affairs Victoria will check that products meet safety rules.
The stores sold candle holders that could catch fire and button batteries without child-proof covers. Panda Mart agreed these goods "may cause serious injury or death, particularly to young children."
This is the second court-ordered shutdown of these stores; they also closed for three days last December. Panda Mart faces criminal charges to be heard in county court in April 2027.
