Canberra's new suburb of 3000 homes open to community input
The ACT wants community input on facilities for Ginninderra East, a new 3000-home suburb on former CSIRO land.
The ACT is asking Canberrans what facilities the new suburb needs, such as schools, shops, parks and services. Ginninderra East is a northern suburb planned for 3000 homes on 240 hectares between Belconnen and Gungahlin.
The ACT Government bought the former CSIRO land in July. It is now running a consultation with surveys, pop-ups and a community panel.
The suburb will include a school, ovals, parks and commercial facilities alongside a protected nature reserve. At least 15 per cent of homes will be affordable housing for people on low incomes.
The government is also seeking input on heritage uses for the former Ginninderra Police Station site.

Why it mattersCommunity input shapes whether the neighbourhood becomes liveable and sustainable. It also shapes what infrastructure actually gets built.
AustraliaCanberrans can help design a suburb that will house thousands of people and define the city's northern growth for decades.
