The Globe development grows to 20-storey hotel
The Globe development will add 32 hotel rooms and 56 motel rooms across expanded hotel and motel towers in Wollongong's CBD.
Wollongong City Council has approved changes that will expand The Globe project on Church Street. The project will replace the City Diggers and David Jones buildings.
The hotel on the Church and Burelli streets corner will grow from 15 to 20 storeys, adding 32 rooms. The club and motel building will rise from 7 to 11 storeys with 56 new motel rooms.
The office tower will increase by one storey to 10. The development will have 551 parking spaces, falling 16 short of the required number.
Traffic studies found that the gap poses no real problem because evening peak traffic will increase by only 29 vehicles per hour to 332 total.
