Police released security footage of a man lighting a fire at a Cobden home where a father and two children were present.

Police released security footage of a man lighting a fire at a Cobden home on February 5. A father and his two children, aged five and 16, were inside.

The father heard a loud whoosh as flames entered the home. The father fought the fire and called emergency services.

Firefighters arrived and put out the blaze. All three escaped unharmed.

Police believe the fire was targeted and are investigating the motive. A silver Mazda 3 was seen leaving the area within minutes.

It had damage to its back-left bumper and an external sunshade on that window. The man is described as wearing a distinctive blue jacket, black pants and runners.

The jacket's hood was pulled up.
