Essential Caravans enters administration with 7,000 sold and orders still
Victoria-based Essential Caravans, which has delivered over 7,000 caravans since 2015, entered voluntary administration on October 21.
The Melbourne manufacturer has appointed administrators and is aiming to consolidate manufacturing operations to a facility in Pakenham. Creditors meet online this Friday to discuss outstanding debts.
Essential Caravans employs about 200 people. The company says it intends to complete all orders already placed and is reviewing delivery schedules to minimise disruption to customers and dealership partners.
The collapse follows Zone RV's failure last year, which left about 200 customers , who had paid deposits , in limbo and hundreds of workers unemployed.

Why it mattersCustomers with deposits face uncertainty. Staff jobs are at risk. The collapse signals trouble in Australia's caravan manufacturing sector.
AustraliaAustralians with pending caravan orders may face delays or cancellations; the closure of another major maker reduces local manufacturing capacity in a sector that serves a large domestic camping market.
