King Valley wine group acquires Gapsted Estate winery
Redbank Wines bought Gapsted Estate out of administration, keeping all nine staff and uniting King Valley wine interests.
Gapsted Estate, a landmark winery near Myrtleford in Victoria's Alpine Valleys, has been rescued by King Valley wine producer Redbank Wines. The deal finalised on October 16 unites the wine interests of three Redbank principals, who also hold stakes in Buller Wines and operate vineyards across Rutherglen and the King Valley.
All nine staff from Gapsted were retained. The acquisition includes a 11,500-tonne processing facility and cellar door on 24 hectares of land.
Redbank says the facility will become a centralised winemaking hub for its brands, and that it will increase grape sourcing from the local region.
