Aeliana and Birdman ready to run in Cox Plate on Saturday
Chris Waller's two horses have completed final workouts and are among 12 runners accepted for Saturday's Cox Plate at Flemington.
The two horses to represent the Chris Waller stable have pleased their trainer in final preparation at Flemington. Aeliana, ridden by James McDonald, and Birdman, with Ben Melham aboard, both worked well on Tuesday morning.
The 12-runner field is now locked in, and the barrier draw will be held later this week. Waller said both horses are genuine Group 1 performers peaking at the right time.
Aeliana is ready after a strong semi-final run, while Birdman's fitness has improved since his last start. The race moves to Flemington this year while Moonee Valley undergoes rebuilding.
