Man sentenced for digitally raping sleeping woman
Thomas Gomm, 37, was sentenced to two years and three months for digitally raping a sleeping woman.
Thomas Gomm, 37, was sentenced to two years and three months after admitting to digitally raping a woman while she slept in her own bed in Wodonga. The victim woke at 4am during the attack.
The victim had believed Gomm was gay and posed no threat, allowing him to stay in her bed. Gomm had previous convictions for touching a 17-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl, and for possessing child abuse material in 2018 and 2023.
Judge Krista Breckweg said he showed scant evidence of remorse. She noted every person has the right to feel safe in their own home and that the victim was vulnerable because she was asleep and unable to resist.
