Residents along Baldwin Drive in Kaleen now walk with high-powered torches after nine streetlights went dark more than 57 days ago. Rod, a resident in his mid-70s, cannot see during evening walks.
Women have changed exercise routines to avoid the stretch at night, citing safety concerns. Dimitri Psihogios reported the fault via Fix My Street in early August but the status remains closed.
ACT government City Services initially claimed the lights were fixed on September 22. The Canberra Times confirmed they were still unlit on Tuesday evening.
The government said a motor vehicle collision damaged a streetlight column. Supply chain delays for replacements and underground cable faults caused further delays.
