Woman in critical condition after stabbing at Blacktown shopping mall
A 79-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times at Westpoint Shopping Centre in Blacktown on Sunday. She remains in critical condition.
Police arrived at Westpoint Shopping Centre in Blacktown just after 10am on Sunday after reports of a stabbing. A 79-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times and tried to run into a nearby shop.
Shopping centre security acted fast. The 79-year-old woman was taken to Westmead Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
The 93-year-old husband was arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station. Investigators are arranging a translator before they interview him.
Witnesses saw police, security and forensics at the busy shopping centre. One shopper said the scene was terrifying.
