81% of shoppers in Australia and New Zealand use AI to shop, with spending projected to reach $47 billion by 2030.
A new report by Stripe and Thoughtworks shows how fast AI is changing online shopping in Australia and New Zealand. Agentic commerce is the latest step: an AI assistant does the searching, comparing and buying for you.
You tell it what you want: a cotton dress under $300 that arrives by week's end. The assistant finds options and compares them.
It can complete the purchase if you allow it. The tech saves time for busy shoppers and helps people make thoughtful choices rather than impulse buys.
Melbourne designer Gautam Kapoor says AI helps with website code and sales tracking. But real creativity comes from hands-on making.
Local fashion label Oroton was an early adopter. It opened AR try-on windows at Queen Victoria Building in Sydney and Queen Street Mall in Brisbane in 2023.
