Church leader Brian Tamaki says Australian Border Force held him for 12 hours at Brisbane Airport. Then they deported him.
Tamaki leads the Destiny Church. Tamaki arrived at Brisbane Airport this week to attend a church conference on the Gold Coast.
Border Force officials pulled him aside and held him in a small room for 12 hours. Officials questioned him about his remarks on immigration and the Indian Prime Minister.
He was placed in an immigration detention centre overnight. His visa was cancelled.
He was sent back to New Zealand. Border Force said his presence could disrupt the Australian way of life, especially affecting Muslim and Sikh communities.
