Coleman trades Lions for Essendon four-year deal
Coleman has played just 15 AFL games in three years with Brisbane.
Keidean Coleman has completed his move to Essendon on a four-year contract, sealed in the final moments of trade deadline day. The 26-year-old left-footer requested the trade after injury struggles limited him to only 15 games across the past three seasons.
Essendon gave picks 21 and 27 to Brisbane and received Coleman plus pick 25 in return. Coleman was set to become a free agent at season's end but committed to the Bombers instead.
He earned Norm Smith Medal votes in Brisbane's 2023 Grand Final loss before missing the club's three-peat premierships. Collingwood, Richmond and the Western Bulldogs had also expressed interest.
Essendon continues its rebuild under new coach Mark McVeigh after earlier securing Geelong midfielder Jack Bowes.
