90,000 AI-generated songs flood music platforms daily

About 90,000 fully machine-generated tracks are uploaded daily to Deezer alone, half of all songs uploaded to the service.

Music streaming platforms are being overwhelmed by AI-generated tracks. Deezer's boss says roughly 90,000 AI-made songs arrive each day, accounting for half of all uploads to the service.

Spotify removed 75 million "spammy tracks" in the past year, many uploaded by bot farms trying to harvest fraudulent royalties. Record labels are split on how to respond: Universal Music Group and Sony Music sued AI-music company Suno, alleging it trained on 60,000 copyrighted recordings without permission, with damages potentially reaching $150,000 per work.

Warner Music Group, however, settled with Suno and says it will begin earning AI partnership revenue this financial year. The legal question remains unresolved: whether AI companies using copyrighted music for training constitutes fair use under copyright law.

Some performers worry about artistic integrity, with few major artists signing on to label-backed AI remix programs so far.
