Konstas and Patterson score centuries as selector watches Perth match
Both Konstas (151) and Patterson (122) scored centuries in a Sheffield Shield match with Australia's Test selector watching from the stands.
Sam Konstas and Kurtis Patterson both fired for NSW against Western Australia in Perth, with Australian selector Tony Dodemaide watching from the WACA. Konstas scored an unbeaten 151 from 167 balls, while Patterson hit 122 at number three.
Konstas and Patterson are both former Test players looking to force their way back into Australia's squad. Konstas made a stunning Test debut at 19 but fell out of favour within a year.
Patterson played two Tests in 2019 when he averaged 144, then disappeared for five years after David Warner and Steve Smith returned. Australia's batting has struggled badly in South Africa this week, losing 13 wickets in a single day.
Neither player is likely to fly out for the third Test in Cape Town, but the pair are firmly back in the conversation for the home summer starting in December.
