Coopers launches ginger beer, first one brewed outside Adelaide
Coopers Brewery launches its first ginger beer on tap, brewed in Sydney as its Adelaide facility reaches capacity.
Australia's oldest independent brewer is adding ginger beer to its range for the first time. The new drink is made with real ginger juice, malt, hops and yeast in the traditional beer style.
The ginger beer has less bitterness and half the sugar of rival ginger beers on tap. The surprise: production happens in Sydney, not Coopers' famous Regency Park Brewery in Adelaide.
The brewer says Adelaide is at full capacity, especially during summer. Contract brewing is common in the industry.
Drinkers at the pub test saw no issue with interstate production.
Why it mattersCoopers is expanding its range as wine and spirit sales grow. It shows even heritage brands must adapt to stay relevant.
AustraliaThe ginger beer is heading to pubs in South Australia and New South Wales first, so drinkers there can try it ahead of summer.
