Dave Bautista gains 20 pounds for God of War Kratos role

Dave Bautista now weighs 250 pounds. He gained 20 pounds to prepare for the Kratos role in Prime Video's God of War.

Bautista posted a video on Instagram showing his muscle gain, captioning it with his current weight. Ryan Hurst originally played Kratos but tore his bicep during filming, requiring surgery that would have delayed production into 2027.

Bautista signed on in August and joined the Vancouver shoot in February. The production now needs to reshoot all scenes that originally featured Hurst.

Prime Video ordered two seasons of the adaptation. The adaptation follows the Norse mythology games.

Kratos raises his young son Atreus in these games. Kratos battles gods.
