Six cars firebombed in fourth consecutive night of Melbourne attacks
Firebugs torched six cars outside four homes across suburban Melbourne early Thursday, the fourth consecutive night of arson attacks.
Six vehicles were destroyed in coordinated fires across Melbourne suburbs in the early hours of Thursday. Police responded to two car fires at properties in Reservoir in the north around 1.55am, destroying both vehicles.
Within 20 minutes, another car caught fire nearby. Later, a fifth vehicle burned at a home in Springvale in the south-east, with eight people inside escaping safely.
A sixth car was destroyed at another property in Oakleigh East. Police said the fires are linked and investigators are treating them as part of an escalating pattern.
No one was injured in any of the attacks.
