City2City adds half-marathon as Ben Hollands backs mental health push

The City2City charity run adds a half-marathon distance in 2027. Funds will support mental health services close to organiser Ben Hollands' family.

The City2City run-walk raises money for Albury Wodonga Health and will add a 21.1-kilometre half-marathon in 2027. Organisers dropped the 15-kilometre race to make room and expect 500 runners in the new distance.

The new route takes two loops around the Lincoln Causeway and avoids double-backing, which runners dislike. Former footballer Ben Hollands launched the 2027 event on October 7.

He backed the mental health focus after his oldest son Elijah struggled with a mental health episode during a match playing for AFL club Carlton against Collingwood in April. Hollands, who previously supported cancer fundraising, said the cause is now close to his family's heart.

The race runs on February 27, 2027. Funds will go toward sensory spaces and support infrastructure in the health service.
