Three years after October 7, Melbourne gathers to remember attack victims
Melbourne's Jewish community held a vigil. It marked three years since Hamas killed over 1,200 Israelis and took 250 hostages.
At the Beth Weizmann Jewish Community Centre in Caulfield today, attendees viewed photos and stories of those killed in the October 7, 2023 attack. One attendee told the ABC: "It's so hard to describe that pain.
There's the before and there's the after. Our lives all changed to know how much hatred there is against us."
The 2023 attack by Hamas fighters left deep scars across Australia's Jewish communities. Ongoing grief and anxiety remain.
A separate Palestinian solidarity demonstration also took place in Melbourne today. Participants called for an end to retaliatory strikes in Gaza.
