Tatum dials down Gambit's Cajun accent for Avengers Doomsday
Channing Tatum tones down Gambit's Cajun accent slightly. This is for the more serious Avengers Doomsday film.
Channing Tatum showed his adjusted take on Gambit's voice in a new Dunkin Donuts ad. In Deadpool and Wolverine, Tatum played Gambit with an over-the-top, silly Cajun accent.
It matched the film's funny tone. For Avengers Doomsday, Tatum has toned it down.
He keeps the character's flair though. Tatum said he is not going "full Cajun" this time.
The directors want the character taken seriously while keeping some humor. When Gambit drops the mask and things get dramatic, they need to matter.
Tatum was originally cast for a solo Gambit film in the 2010s that never happened. Deadpool and Wolverine gave him a chance to finally play the character on screen.
