Ramayana epic brings scale and spectacle to global screens

Director Nitesh Tiwari's three-hour film adapts the ancient tale with music by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman.

Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is a bold Indian epic on an unprecedented scale. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Prince Rama, the film brings Hindu mythology to the screen with grand action and political intrigue.

The three-hour first half covers Rama's exile from his kingdom and his wife Sita's abduction, leading to his vow of war against Lanka. The Guardian calls it thoroughly engaging and spectacular.

With its giant canvas, it has echoes of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings and Disney's The Lion King. Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman's score drives the sweeping story.
