Harley Quinn stays, but Margot Robbie may move on

Gunn confirms Harley Quinn will almost certainly stay in the rebooted DC Universe, but Robbie may not play her.

James Gunn said the character Harley Quinn will almost certainly return to his rebooted DC Universe, but he's unsure whether Margot Robbie will play her again. On a recent podcast, Gunn explained that Robbie has become "kind of the biggest female star in the world."

He said of her future with the role: "She may be over that." Robbie played Harley Quinn in three DCEU movies starting in 2016.

Her schedule has since filled with huge roles. Margot Robbie starred in Barbie, Wuthering Heights, and is set to appear in Tim Burton's Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman.

Gunn said he wanted "a little leeway" from fans about how Harley's future would unfold in the new DC Universe.
