Witness describes erratic man on beach morning Steven Fenwick vanished in 2019

A witness told an inquest he saw a naked man acting strangely on Stockton Beach when Fenwick disappeared.

A dog walker gave evidence at an inquest into Fenwick's 2019 disappearance. The witness described a naked man pacing and yelling on Stockton Beach in Newcastle the morning Fenwick was last seen at a nearby oval.

The man moved quickly between the water and sand dunes, throwing his hands in the air and seeming distressed. The witness picked out Fenwick from 50 photos, but later said just the hair in a more recent photo did not match what he had seen.

Fenwick, 33, a disability pensioner, was left at Corroba Oval at 3.15am on January 31, 2019. Detective Matt Counsell told the court he believed Fenwick likely died from misadventure, probably drowning, not foul play.
