Michael Fishman fires back at Roseanne Barr's podcast attack
Barr called former co-star Fishman a brainwashed bigot on a podcast; he responded on social media saying he showed her compassion.
Michael Fishman, who played DJ Conner on the original Roseanne series, has publicly responded to attacks from Roseanne Barr after she called him a brainwashed bigot. Barr claimed Fishman had not even listened to her explanations for a 2018 racist tweet that got the Roseanne reboot cancelled after just two months.
The tweet compared a Black woman to an ape, drawing condemnation from cast and crew. Fishman supported the cancellation.
In a video response, Fishman said he had reached out to Barr when she sent the tweets. He showed her compassion despite disagreeing with her.
He said her actions gave insight into what it was like working with her as a child actor. But he still holds gratitude for the opportunity.
He chooses to meet hatred with his heart.
