Shellharbour rezoning to include towers up to 20 storeys
NSW government proposes rezoning Shellharbour for up to 10,000 new homes with towers up to 20 storeys; community meeting Wednesday night.
Residents are gathering Wednesday at 7pm to voice concerns about Shellharbour's rezoning plan. The plan would transform the city centre around Stockland Shellharbour and the new hospital precinct.
A 20-storey tower could rise in the car park north of the shopping centre. 17-storey towers would go to the east.
Smaller buildings between six and 16 storeys would go elsewhere. The plan would create up to 10,000 new homes in the city area.
Up to 1,700 new homes could be built around the hospital site. Planning Minister Paul Scully denies claims that bulldozers will roll in 2027, calling them misinformation.
The government has received nearly 500 submissions on the proposal and says it will consider all feedback before deciding.
