ATS Mining pleads guilty over mechanic Ty Drummond's death
ATS Mining pleaded guilty to workplace safety failures. These failures killed diesel mechanic Ty Drummond in December 2023.
Ty Drummond was a diesel mechanic, 25 years old. Ty Drummond died on December 11, 2023.
The accident happened at ATS Mining Maintenance's South Boulder workshop in Western Australia's Goldfields. Ty Drummond was told to remove the front axle from a mining truck.
A flat front tyre caused the vehicle to lean. The jack holding the truck failed and he was fatally injured.
WorkSafe said the company failed to provide a safe workplace, enough supervision, or proper equipment like a work lift crane. The company pleaded guilty in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on Friday.
Sentencing is set for February 10, 2027. The maximum penalty is $3.5 million.
