15-year-old dies when concrete panel falls at Melbourne factory
A 15-year-old worker died when a precast concrete panel fell on him at a factory in Dandenong South on Thursday morning.
A 15-year-old boy died when an upright concrete panel fell on him at a precast concrete factory on Carter Way in Dandenong South about 10.45am on Thursday. The accident happened while multiple staff members were nearby, many on their smoko break.
Paramedics raced to the scene but could not save the teenager. Police detectives investigated the incident for hours.
WorkSafe officials are now examining how the panel came to fall. The company declined to comment.
It said it was busy with WorkSafe investigators who are currently inside the factory.
