NSW Police offer $250k reward for fugitive crime boss in Vietnam

NSW Police are offering $250,000 to find Anthony Pele. He is a fugitive crime boss believed to be in Vietnam.

Anthony Pele, 25, fled Australia in 2023 after mistakenly shooting dead Ahmad Al-Azzam at Greenacre. Police believe Pele runs the self-proclaimed Coconut Cartel.

Pele has been planning gang violence from overseas ever since. The Pacific Islander gang has carried out a string of filmed attacks on Sydney's Alameddine crime family.

Many of these attacks were posted to social media. Since leaving, Pele's name has come up in drug thefts and large-scale drug cases.

In December 2023, he allegedly planned a kidnap plot aimed at getting $1 billion worth of cocaine. But the plan was stopped before it worked.

Police believe Pele is currently in Vietnam. Police Minister Yasmin Catley called him a criminal.

She said the $250,000 reward shows how serious the threat still is.
