Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5, a cheaper AI model with better performance on complex tasks.
Anthropic has released Claude Opus 5.5, the newest model in its AI family. Claude Opus 5.5 performs better than the older Claude Opus 5 and costs about 40 per cent less to run.
Early testers completed large projects faster: one finished a 680,000-line code migration in less than a day, a job that would normally take weeks. On app speed improvements, Opus 5.5 succeeded 39 times out of 40, while Opus 5 made smaller gains that sometimes broke other features.
The model also generates output more than 30 per cent faster. Anthropic says it passes stronger safety tests than any previous model, scoring top marks on their alignment audit.
