Brisbane founder launches one-stop gluten-free dining platform
Brisbane founder Lucinda Kittel built Elios Table to help more than 3 million Australians find safe gluten-free restaurants.
Finding a gluten-free meal at a restaurant is only half the battle for Australians with coeliac disease. Knowing what happens in the kitchen is much harder.
Lucinda Kittel was diagnosed with coeliac disease in 2018. Kittel created Elios Table to gather venue searches, menu details and food-scanning tools in one place.
The platform lets users find participating restaurants and see verified information about how they prepare gluten-free food. Elios Table scans packaged food labels and restaurant menus for wheat, rye, barley and other gluten sources.
It can translate ingredient lists when users travel overseas. Kittel built the site using AI-assisted and low-code tools while self-funding and working in business marketing.
The platform attracted 18,090 visitors in the past 30 days. Restaurants will eventually pay about $39 a month for better visibility.
