Corowa hospital gets $700k emergency department upgrade
NSW announced $700,000 to upgrade Corowa hospital's emergency department with improved privacy and efficiency.
Corowa hospital's emergency department will get a makeover as part of nearly $3.4 million in spending across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District. The upgrade will shift the ultrasound department closer to the X-ray machine to streamline patient flow.
The triage room will expand, and staff say it will create safer spaces for vulnerable patients. The ED currently has four beds staffed by ten nurses, a doctor and a nurse practitioner.
The work is expected to ease the strain on larger regional hospitals like Albury Wodonga Health, which has been dealing with patient ramping. Detailed planning starts this financial year with work to begin later.
