Jordan Yap vanished weeks ago while attempting a 10-day solo trek in Peru's Huayhuash region. The 30-year-old Melbourne man failed to return from the remote hike, missed his hotel check-in and a flight home.
Jordan Yap's family and friends launched an urgent search. Authorities found his body near Mitucocha Lagoon, a high-altitude lake around 200 kilometres north of Lima, at 4,270 metres.
Yap was an experienced hiker, but the Peru trip was one of his first solo expeditions. The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed it was providing consular support to his family.
