Ireland beats Namibia by 55 runs in ODI cricket
Ireland defeated Namibia by 55 runs in the opening ODI of a five-game series in Windhoek.
Ireland batted first and scored 229 for nine in 50 overs, led by captain Paul Stirling's 56 off 71 balls. Stirling's half-century ended a streak of 17 international innings without one and included eight fours and a six.
Namibia managed only 174 in 37.5 overs, with Ruben Trumpelmann's 50 offering brief resistance from number eight. Ireland's bowlers Gavin Hoey and George Dockrell took key wickets to control the chase.
The win marks Ireland's first ODI victory since May 2025 and gives them a 1-0 lead in the series. The teams play again in Windhoek on Saturday.
