Warrnambool's Salvation Army shop gets bigger and opens in December
Warrnambool's Salvation Army is expanding its Lava Street shop and reopening as a Salvos Store on December 11.
Warrnambool's Salvation Army thrift shop is closing for renovations and reopening as a different kind of store. The Lava Street location shut this week and will be rebuilt to be larger than before.
The Salvos Store will be a just a national model that stocks both new items and used goods instead of only second-hand donations. The new store will have better buying power to stock mattresses and other home essentials that weren't available before.
Renovations start the week of November 2, with the shop reopening December 11. Donations are on pause until construction is done, but the local Salvation Army church will stay involved in how the store works.
Profits will continue to fund Salvation Army services in the city.
