Diwali 2026 lights up Newcastle Foreshore Park this weekend

Newcastle hosts a free Diwali festival on Saturday from 2pm with live performances, food, and a drone show.

The Hindu festival of lights comes to Newcastle Foreshore Park on Saturday afternoon. It's free for everyone.

Organisers have asked people from all backgrounds across the city to come and celebrate with families and friends. Live music, dance, cultural shows and food stalls will be there.

There's a market, kids area, tug-of-war, wellness zone, fireworks and a drone show. This follows last year's successful first celebration.

Organiser Professor Ajayan Vinu said Diwali represents hope and renewal. "No matter where we come from, the shared humanity brings us together," he said.

"When we all join hands in celebration, our collective lights get even brighter."
