Gawn and Langdon cycle Everest height with Hamish Blake

Melbourne AFL stars Max Gawn and Ed Langdon cycled up a South Australian hill 40 times, gaining Everest's elevation.

The pair took on Everesting, a cycling challenge where riders repeatedly climb the same hill until reaching Everest's altitude gain. Gawn and Langdon hit Willunga Hill's 3.7-kilometre uphill stretch 40 times in a single push, starting in darkness.

Comedian Hamish Blake joined them, fuelling on honey and stopping to admire the views. The trio carb-loaded the night before with pasta, some pizza and ice cream, then treated the ride partly as an eating competition.

Despite technical issues including a faulty seat, they kept going late into the evening, though none threatened Richie Porte's local record of 6:39.
