Teen charged over Canberra head-on crash leaves man critically injured
A 17-year-old was charged with culpable driving causing grievous bodily harm after a head-on crash left a man with life-threatening injuries.
The teenage driver was issued a court notice after a collision on Yamba Drive in Mawson on August 26. A Toyota HiLux driven by the youth collided head-on with a Kia Sportage, leaving the SUV driver with life-threatening injuries.
The 17-year-old driver and the 54-year-old SUV driver were both taken to hospital. Officers from ACT Policing's major collision team investigated and issued the teenager with a court attendance notice on Monday.
He will appear before the ACT Children's Court on February 15, 2027.
