Uber Eats driver ambushed in Redan attack, teen denied bail
A 19-year-old was refused bail after allegedly luring an Uber Eats driver to his Redan unit and assaulting him with knives.
An Uber Eats driver was lured to a Redan unit with a fake order for bread and cola drink. The driver was attacked by two masked men in the early hours of October 13.
Police say the driver was assaulted outside the unit, then chased inside. The driver hid in a bedroom while the attackers broke through the door.
The men threatened him with kitchen knives and choked him three times before he got away. The driver spent two days in hospital with a damaged spine, concussion, and bruising to his face and body.
He had to wear a neck brace. Declan Fitzpatrick, 19, was arrested three days later after fleeing bushland near the unit.
A magistrate refused his bail, saying the case was very serious and the police had a strong case. Fitzpatrick will next appear in court on November 16.
