Illawarra man jailed for storing 100,000 child abuse files at home

An Illawarra man was jailed for one year and ten months. Police found more than 100,000 child abuse files at his home.

Police carried out a search warrant at a family home in Illawarra on 4 August 2025. Police found more than 100,000 images and 5,653 videos of child sexual abuse material.

The material was on laptops, mobile phones and tablets. At least 739 of the videos showed category one and two child abuse material.

Police also found 12 bestiality videos. Two young children were living in the home at the time.

The man, in his 50s, pleaded guilty to having child abuse and bestiality material. On 8 October at Wollongong District Court, Judge William Fitzsimmons sentenced him to one year and ten months in jail.

He had already spent time in jail waiting for trial. Because of this, he was eligible for immediate release onto parole as of 12 September 2026.

The judge warned him that breaking parole conditions could send him back to prison.
