Brisbane Lions fitness chief banned from bench after sideline language complaint
High performance manager Matt Green received a one-match ban for alleged conduct unbecoming.
Brisbane AFLW high performance manager Matt Green served a one-match boundary-line ban during Sunday's QClash loss to Gold Coast. A complaint was raised after the club's round seven loss to Sydney regarding alleged conduct unbecoming while performing bench duties.
The ban is understood to relate to language Green allegedly used under his breath, comments that were not directed at an individual but were overheard. During the QClash, assistant coach Phil Lovett took Green's place on the bench while Green worked from the coaches' box.
Green has overseen the Lions' AFLW fitness and conditioning program since the women's team was formed in 2016. Brisbane confirmed he apologised to the AFL, the Swans and the club internally.
Sydney confirmed it was not the source of the complaint.
