Former Port Adelaide and Hawks defender Burton joins Giants
Ryan Burton, 162-game AFL veteran, joins Greater Western Sydney to help develop the club's young players.
Ryan Burton has moved from the VFL to the Giants coaching box as a development coach. The 29-year-old spent 2026 playing with Southport in the VFL after his 162-game AFL career ended last year.
Burton was originally drafted by Hawthorn with pick 19 in 2015 before a trade to Port Adelaide. Ryan Burton now heads to Sydney to help GWS prepare young players for pre-season.
The Giants are rebuilding their coaching panel. Adam Read, who spent 19 years at Fremantle, has just joined as an assistant coach.
Ben Hart is leaving for Collingwood to work under Craig McRae, while Brett Montgomery is returning to South Australia to coach South Adelaide. Craig Jennings has been promoted to head of development.
