Geelong secures Rowan Marshall in crucial ruckman trade
Geelong acquired Rowan Marshall from St Kilda, trading pick 14 and a future selection to land the 30-year-old as their primary ruckman.
Geelong acquired Rowan Marshall from St Kilda, trading pick 14 in this year's draft and a third-round pick in 2028. Marshall, 30, becomes the Cats' number-one ruckman ahead of emerging star Mitchell Edwards, who played 20 games this season.
Marshall had requested a move to Geelong for a second consecutive year after St Kilda recruited Tom De Koning as their first-choice ruck. The trade comes as Geelong adds playmakers Toby Greene and Jordan Ridley to their list this trade period.
They may have missed out on superstar Zak Butters but now have substantial talent across their best 23. Key departures include Jack Bowes, who lost favour late in the season, and retired premiership player Rhys Stanley, who managed just one game this year.
