Aspen's 295-home lifestyle village approved in Ravenswood
The Shire of Murray council voted 7-2 to approve Aspen's 295-dwelling lifestyle village for over-50s near the river.
Aspen Group won council approval to build a 295-dwelling lifestyle village in Ravenswood. The Shire of Murray voted 7-2 in favour on October 22.
The development will cover 11 hectares of the 33.5-hectare site and targets people aged 50 and older seeking low-maintenance community living. Residents opposed the plan, suggesting 220 to 240 dwellings would be better.
They raised concerns about traffic at key intersections and the impact on the Murray River environment. Ravenswood lacks infrastructure to support a village of this size, opponents said.
The council backed the project because the land has been zoned for residential development since 2013. Aspen made meaningful changes to the design after community feedback, including keeping Rodoreda Crescent as a cul-de-sac.
The developer committed to opening 7 hectares of regional open space and improving public access to the riverfront.
