Canavan may leave Senate for lower house as One Nation threatens his seat
Nationals leader Matt Canavan is considering switching to House of Representatives after polling shows One Nation will likely claim his Senate seat.
Michelle Landry is retiring from her Capricornia seat, and Canavan is eyeing the lower-house position. Pollster Kos Samaras says Canavan has zero per cent chance of holding his Senate seat if One Nation's surge continues.
One Nation is polling at 25 per cent nationally, while the Coalition sits at an all-time low of 22 per cent. Samaras predicts One Nation could win nearly every LNP seat in Queensland, including Senate spots.
Canavan said he would do whatever it takes to hold a seat. Landry criticised One Nation as not pleasant and called the party's videos obnoxious.
