Four Hunter pubs are finalists for Regional Hotel of the Year at the Australian Hotels Association NSW awards. The shortlist includes the Bradford Hotel, George Darby Hotel, Nags Head Hotel and NINETEEN Hunter Valley.
The Bradford Hotel is in Rutherford, and NINETEEN Hunter Valley is in Pokolbin. The winner will be announced at a gala ceremony on October 27 at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney.
This year's awards drew 849 entries across 47 categories. Several Hunter venues are also finalists for Best Parmi and Best Steak.
AHA NSW chief executive John Whelan said hotels outside Sydney are punching well above their weight this year. Pubs in regional and rural NSW, he said, are part of the fabric of country life.
