Cameron Green returns for South Africa Test after bizarre side muscle tear
Green strained a side muscle after being hit in the groin during the ODI series, then will return as a batsman only.
Cameron Green has been cleared to play in the third Test against South Africa after recovering from an unusual abdominal injury. The injury happened during the ODI series when Green was struck on the groin.
Two balls later, he strained a side muscle while trying to just play a shot. Green called the sequence bizarre, saying the tear likely followed the impact.
Medical staff had little experience with the injury and its recovery time. But Green was eventually cleared to return.
He will bat only, not bowl, this week. Green said he prefers to bat at four or five but will play anywhere the team needs.
