NSW government abandons controversial South Coast rail timetable
NSW cancelled November timetable changes for the T4, T8 and South Coast lines after public backlash.
The NSW government reversed its plan to change train schedules on three major lines. Commuters and local MPs had opposed the changes.
Premier Chris Minns and Transport Minister John Graham said the government will keep the existing timetable. Under the scrapped plan, passengers travelling between Wollongong and Sydney could have faced an extra hour of travel each week.
Journey times would have been longer and passengers would have needed more changes. The changes would also have removed Wolli Creek station from the South Coast Line.
Passengers would have been forced to make two changes to reach the airport. The government said its priority now is making sure trains run reliably before making major service changes.
