Newcastle Knights chase first premiership in 25 years in NRL grand final
Newcastle faces Sydney Roosters Sunday aiming for their first title since 2001.
The NRL grand final will be played Sunday evening at Stadium Australia in Sydney. Newcastle is chasing their first premiership in 25 years.
The Knights face the Sydney Roosters, who won back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019. Earlier Sunday, the NRLW grand final kicks off with the Roosters facing Brisbane Broncos.
Brisbane is fresh from beating Sydney in last year's decider. Channel 9 will show both matches exclusively.
The NRL pre-match show will honour retired South Sydney Rabbitohs player Jai Arrow. He stepped down this year after his motor neurone disease diagnosis.
The show will reportedly feature Australian music acts. These include pop star Amy Shark, Newcastle band The Screaming Jets and electronic duo Peking Duk.
Appearance fees will reportedly go to MND causes. The same weekend, the Koori Knockout runs at Raymond Terrace in NSW's Hunter region with 180 teams competing.
Knockout is one of Australia's largest Indigenous gatherings.
