Paris Jackson sues for $600 million from Michael Jackson Estate
Paris Jackson filed court papers demanding $600 million for a family trust that remains unfunded 17 years after her father's death.
Paris Jackson has asked a judge to order the Michael Jackson Estate to release $600 million to a family trust for her and her two brothers. The 28-year-old argues the trust was meant to fund them from age 21 onwards but has never been filled.
Prince turns 30 this year and Paris turns 29 next April; they say they have depended on estate executor John Branca to decide if and when they receive money. The estate has generated billions through various deals since Michael's death in 2009, including a $287 million music publishing sale in 2018 and recent Sony deals.
The estate claims it cannot fully fund the trusts until ongoing tax disputes with the US government are resolved. A judge will hear Paris's request on December 4.
Why it mattersThe filing exposes tensions over one of music's most valuable estates. It tests whether executors have a duty to distribute assets to beneficiaries on time.
AustraliaThe case is reported in Australian media and highlights wealth disputes affecting musician families worldwide.
